Federation is one of the core principles of Matrix: your home server can communicate with other Matrix servers, allowing users of different instances to chat with each other - without any central instance. For other servers to reliably reach your home server, federation needs to be set up correctly.

Setup

For other Matrix servers to know where to send their federation requests, your server_name needs to resolve correctly. You can find out how this works and what options are available on the Delegation page.
