Bridges

Matrix Bridges are basically services that create a connection between the Matrix ecosystem and other messaging platforms such as Telegram, Signal, WhatsApp and many more. They act as translators that synchronize messages and content between these different platforms, allowing Matrix users to communicate with people on other platforms in their familiar environments.

Advantages of using Matrix Bridges​

  • Centralized communication: Merge chats from different platforms into a single (Matrix) client.
  • Simplicity: No need to switch between different apps and websites.
  • Open standards: Benefit from the advantages of an open and standardized protocol.
  • Accessibility: Reach people on platforms they prefer without sacrificing Matrix.

Price structure​

Due to varying software quality and the strong dependence on third-party providers, we have decided to classify the price for the Matrix Bridges (from €2 in the Matrix “Family” tariff) as a “contribution towards expenses”. We do our best to ensure that the bridges are stable and reliable, but we cannot guarantee their availability. Bridges may be added or removed if we determine that they no longer meet the requirements.

Security and data protection​

Where there is light, there is also shadow: When using Bridges, data leaves the Matrix ecosystem. This also requires you to have a certain understanding of security and data protection aspects. Please read the information on security and data protection that we have provided on the respective Bridge pages.

Support​

We have noted exactly which software we host for you on each bridge. As a hosting provider, we are unfortunately not always able to provide support at application level, so depending on the problem, we may ask you to enter an issue for the respective project. If this requires data that is only available to us, we will of course be happy to help.
