Pixelfed
Don't have your own Pixelfed instance yet? You'll find the right hosting with us.
The Fediverse consists of more than Pixelfed. For readability, we focus on Pixelfed in this article, although many of the statements also apply to other services using the ActivityPub protocol, such as Mastodon or PeerTube.
Photo sharing - reimagined
Pixelfed, a social network for sharing photos, videos and more, combines intuitive photo sharing with a decentralized infrastructure that gives users full sovereignty over their data. Running your own instances creates independent communities that are connected globally via the ActivityPub protocol in what is known as the Fediverse. The decentralized, federated approach also enables companies and startups to build their own networks and connect with other users.

Why Pixelfed?
Pixelfed, Mastodon and PeerTube are among the most widely used services in the Fediverse. The Fediverse is a group of interconnected decentralized social networks that allow users to interact across different platforms. It is based on the principle of decentralized data storage and allows users to control their own identities and data without depending on a centralized service. Unlike proprietary networks, there is no central control over the network: every user can run their own instance or join an existing one. This gives users greater autonomy and independence.
