Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Don't have your own Nextcloud instance yet? You'll find the right hosting with us.
In this section, we answer the most frequently asked questions about Nextcloud hosting. Is something missing? Let us know.
What maximum storage capacity is supported?
Our plans differ in storage capacity and number of users, but regardless of the plan you choose, you can add storage or reduce it again in your Ossrox customer account at any time. If you need more storage or have special requirements, we're happy to put together a suitable offer for you.
Can I install my own apps?
Except in the "Nextcloud Account" plan, where you only get an account on a shared Nextcloud instance, you can install your own apps in all our hosting plans. By default, we pre-install the "Antivirus" app, for example.
Is there office support?
Yes, you can use Nextcloud's built-in office integration, for example. However, since we have had mixed results with this solution, we recommend additionally hosting Collabora Online, ONLYOFFICE or EuroOffice. You can add this at any time via your Ossrox customer account. We will then take care of setting up the app in your Nextcloud instance.
When will you update my Nextcloud to the latest major version?
We regularly apply minor updates containing security and bug fixes. For new major versions (major releases), we deliberately wait a while in the default "Stable" update channel: right after a major release, often not all apps are compatible yet, and the first bug fixes usually arrive in the following weeks.
If having the latest version matters more to you, you can switch to the "Latest" channel in the update settings of your Nextcloud product in your Ossrox customer account. Your instance will then receive new major versions shortly after their release.
- The update settings are available in all plans with your own instance. In the "Nextcloud Account" plan, you share an instance with other customers, so the "Stable" channel always applies there.
- In the "Latest" channel, individual apps may be temporarily disabled until their developers release a compatible version.
- Nextcloud does not support downgrades. If you switch from "Latest" back to "Stable", your instance stays on its current version until the "Stable" channel has caught up.
