Matrix bridges are services that create a connection between the Matrix ecosystem and other messaging platforms such as Telegram, Signal, WhatsApp and many more. They act as translators that synchronize messages and content between these different platforms, allowing Matrix users to communicate with people on other platforms in their familiar environments.
Advantages of using Matrix bridges
- Centralized communication: Merge chats from different platforms into a single Matrix client.
- Simplicity: No need to switch between different apps and websites.
- Open standards: Benefit from the advantages of an open and standardized protocol.
- Reachability: Reach people on the platforms they prefer without giving up Matrix.
Pricing
Due to varying software quality and the strong dependence on third-party providers, we have decided to classify the price for the Matrix bridges (from €3 per month) as a "contribution toward costs". We do our best to ensure that the bridges are stable and reliable, but we cannot guarantee their availability. Our range of bridges may change: we add new bridges and remove bridges if we determine that they no longer meet our requirements.

Security and data protection
When you use bridges, data leaves the Matrix ecosystem. On the Matrix side, chats via our bridges are always end-to-end encrypted - we enforce this in the configuration of the mautrix bridges. The encryption covers the path from your Matrix client to the bridge. The bridge itself has to decrypt the messages and process them in plain text in order to pass them on to the other platform. True end-to-end encryption between you and your contacts on the other platform is therefore technically not possible with a bridge.

Support
For each bridge, we have noted exactly which software we host for you. As a hosting provider, we are unfortunately not always able to provide support at the application level, so depending on the problem, we may ask you to open an issue with the respective project. If this requires data that only we have, we will be happy to help.
